Listings are researched by us, not submitted by shops. We work from publicly available sources: a shop's own website and social accounts, established Japanese industry portals, and English-language travel resources.

Before a shop is published, we check that:

• It has a verifiable fixed presence — a website with an address, hours and contact details.
• There is dated evidence it is currently operating — a staff schedule showing recent dates, a recent post, or an active booking system.
• Its category and service type are clear (urisen, gay massage or outcall; in-call or outcall).
• Any language support we claim is evidenced on the shop's own materials.

Where we cannot confirm a shop is currently active, we do not publish it — even if it is well known. Several established names are held back for exactly this reason.

• No shop currently pays us anything. Every listing on this site today is free, and the shops marked Editor's pick were chosen by us — typically because they publish clear prices or handle English well. We do offer paid plans, and if a shop takes one it will buy extra detail and placement — clearly labelled as such. What payment will never buy is a different write-up: the description, the language support we record and the verification date are the same either way.
• We do not invent reviews. We do not publish user reviews or ratings at all, because we cannot verify them.
• We do not publish explicit content. This is a directory, not adult media.
• We do not take a cut of bookings. You book directly with the shop; we are not an intermediary.

Every guide shows the date its underlying data was last verified. Every shop listing records the evidence we used to confirm it was operating, and when we checked.

Prices, hours and staff change constantly in this industry and shops rarely announce it. Treat everything here as a well-checked starting point, and confirm the details with the shop when you book. Where we quote a price, it is a price the shop published — not an estimate.

We use AI tools to help with research, translation from Japanese, and drafting. Every listing and every guide is reviewed and fact-checked by a person before it is published, and the factual claims in our guides are traced back to shop materials or our own directory data.

Articles are published under the Midnight Gentlemen Editorial Team byline because they are a team product with human editorial responsibility — we do not attribute writing to an AI persona.

If something here is wrong — a shop has closed, a price has changed, or we have described your business incorrectly — tell us and we will fix it. Shop owners can also ask for a listing to be corrected or removed entirely.
